Alexandra Levits Water Cooler Wisdom Chat with Dan Schawbel Promote Yourself Better Today

Alexandra Levit's Water Cooler Wisdom Chat with Dan Schawbel Promote Yourself Better Today Im thrilled to share that at long last, my pal Dan Schawbel is releasing his new book, Promote Yourself! I couldnt wait to talk to him and get the scoop on what this new title brings to the current literature about Millennials. Heres what Dan had to say. Dan, given the success of Me 2.0, what did you want to accomplish with this new book? Both of my books are targeted at millennials but with advice that can benefit anyone who is serious about building a successful career. While Me 2.0 was focused on getting your first job out of school, this one focuses on how to advance your career when you already have a job. My goal will this one is to support my generation, give them a reference book and changed how they are perceived in the workplace, from negative to positive. From a professional standpoint, I turn 30 after the book comes out so it marks a new phase in my life and its my best work. Ive made a lot of sacrifices to pull this book off and it took me over three years to get this publishing deal. I hope my story inspires others to work hard and never give up on their dreams. Whats a secret or two of Promote Yourself that readers wont find on the Personal Branding blog? Promote Yourself has an exclusive study I did in partnership with American Express on millennials in the workplace and over 75 interviews with millennials, their managers and executives from top brands like EY, PepsiCo and DreamWorks. Ive relentlessly researched the topic, I lived the topic and now Im reflecting on it in this book. You have done such a great job of branding yourself in addition to giving advice to others on branding. What are one or two personal must-dos every day? Read as much as you can. When I wake up, I just start reading so I know whats going on in the world and the latest workplace trends. The more I learn at the beginning of the day, the smarter I will be as I work through my projects during the day. The most successful business people I know are also the ones that read the most. If you arent in touch with whats going on around you, its extremely easy to become irrelevant and lose your edge. Make at least one new connection each day. We are living in the social age and the more connected you are, the more valuable you become. If you want to increase your value, and your network, you must strive to reach out to new people. Its never been easier to connect and you can do it on social networks ,at conferences, at association events and even through your college alumni network. What is the greatest hurdle youve faced in establishing and sustaining your own brand? The biggest hurdle is to be able to constantly think of new ideas, keep my name out there and adjust to new economic realities and topics. Its getting increasing hard because of how fragmented the media is, how the publishing and speaking market is changing and just the sheer global competition. Anything exciting happening around the launch of Promote Yourself that readers should know about? I have two really exciting things going on for the book before and after it comes out. Im going to have a New York City launch event where Ill be keynoting and having a panel of corporate executives on with me. Also, Ive worked with a computer animator to create a new infographic video thats coming out soon called Why Millennials Matter. For more information, please feel free to check out our website!

How To Keep That Image In The Mirror Looking Young

How To Keep That Image In The Mirror Looking Young Wouldn’t it just be nice if you could keep your same complexion and skin from your glory days? Unfortunately, that is not the way life works and as you age your collagen production is going to slow and your skin will suffer as a result. That being said there are also things that you are probably doing that aren’t doing your skin and face any favors. If you are already noticing that your face or skin is changing now is the time to take action before it is too late. With the following tips, you won’t have a problem maintaining that youthful, good looking complexion for years to come. Wash Your Face Before Going To Bed It is true that it is easy to forget to wash your face before you go to bed at night because you are exhausted, but this is a costly mistake. When you don’t properly cleanse your face before going to bed it can lead to oil and dirt build up, which is going to eventually lead to breakouts and bacterial infections. Who wants to deal with annoying breakouts that could cause permanent acne scarring? Simply keeping a pack of face wipes by the bed can be a great reminder to clean your face. Take Advantage Of The Right Products There are a number of facial products on the market that can help you maintain that youthful complexion. There are even products available that can restore your skin and complexion. Just look at anti-aging cream. Not only are these products extremely easy to use, but also they come with a number of scientifically proven benefits. They help eliminate dead skin cells, they reduce skin spots, and they even help keep your moisture levels balanced. Here is an anti aging cream you must buy in Malaysia. Be Careful With Sunscreen The harsh rays of the sun can break down collagen and elastin, which causes fine lines and wrinkles. So, it would not be highly advisable to leave home without a good sunscreen, but you might be surprised to learn that the wrong sunscreen can do just as much damage to your screen as well. Sunscreen can clog your pores and cause blemishes to pop up. If you are acne prone, you should consider investing in sunscreen that is oil free. It is also good to look for brands that are fragrance-free and broad spectrum. Be Careful With Your Phone Do you find that you spend an incredible amount of time with your cellphone jammed up against your face? Well, this can lead to breakouts and rashes along your jawline. Just think of all the bacterium that your phone is exposed to on a daily basis and when you are using your phone, you are simply putting your face into contact with bacteria. A good way to battle this is by making sure that you are cleaning your screen on a daily basis with some sort of antibacterial wipe. Another good way to avoid this is by investing in a hands-free set so that you never have to put your phone against your face again.

The Protection that your Startup Needs

The Protection that your Startup Needs Starting your own business is quite an undertaking and if you’re already up and running you’ll probably have your hands full with any number of different tasks. The truth is though that you’ll need to make some time to assess what threats there are to your new company and indeed put steps in place to prevent them. The nature of these threats is quite varied, but luckily help is at hand in this useful blog post. Below we’ve listed a few things you need to look out for and indeed what you can do to manage and protect your startup. Be Fully Licenced and Insured Depending on the nature of your startup â€" manufacturer, services, advice etc. â€" the chances are you’ll need some kind of insurance policy in place or a licence of some form. If you’re not certain it’s best to seek legal advice from and expert who can help advise you. Have Patents in Place In addition to this, if you make an original product you should also have clearly defined patents to show for this. Such patents will help prevent any theft or copying of your ideas and will be legal proof of your ownership and invention. Create Job Specs To avoid internal threats like disagreements between staff and to show you’re a well-organised business, you need to create transparent job specifications and company staff charts. This will help to define who needs to and should be doing which role. Ensure Data Protection Your business and client data can be at risk from cyber-attacks, so to make sure this is protected you should invest in protective security systems. To help assess your needs with this there are expert companies like Nettitude who can assess your current status and advise on how you can improve your protection levels. Have Clear Client Agreements When it comes to the goods and/or services you provide for clients you should have clear client contracts and agreements. This provides transparency over what you are offering and should there be any discrepancies or challenges from your customers, you have this documentation to refer back to. As aforementioned, as daunting as these might sound, you should make the time to ensure they are in place for the relevant aspects of your startup. The reality is that if you let these slide or don’t tackle them now, you could do lasting damage to your firm. So make the smart choice and take this advice. Image Source; Image Source; Image Source

Important Things to Consider When Writing the Personal Statement For a Student

Important Things to Consider When Writing the Personal Statement For a StudentWhen it comes to writing the personal statement for a student, one of the most important things to consider is whether or not it will be considered in writing. This is a major concern in which it is easy to get confused. Here are some points that you should think about. If you have taken an internship or a class in school that is related to the work that you do, then this will count as 'work experience'. This would be good for almost all students, but particularly for those who will be applying for jobs such as teachers, administrators, or other employees. These positions require you to have experience of working with students and not with only one.You also need to be aware that your prior academic credentials, such as your grades, will likely play a role in this form of document. This is where letters of recommendation are used. The important thing here is to make sure that the letters have been written by the student himself. You also want to make sure that you can contact the student and show that you're worth a hire.During this part of the process, you should be checking the application that the student has sent you. You want to make sure that he or she is adequately filling out the application form. This will come into play later on. It's important to be sure that all of the necessary information is there.Another aspect to consider is the amount of time the student will have to get ready for the interview. It can take a student up to two weeks to get prepared for an interview. During this time, the student might as well be able to provide all of the necessary information that is on the form.Even if the student did not attend school during the summer, he or she might still be able to submit documents. Some schools allow for two months from the last day of school until the beginning of the new school year. In some cases, this is the only time that the student can submit documents. T he student would then need to submit an early application and thus, more time needed to get everything ready. When it comes to a timeline for the student, there is a lot of responsibility on the student. There are some common problems that occur for students who are left on their own for too long. To avoid these problems, the student should contact his or her advisor at the school and plan out what he or she needs to do before the deadline. These are just some of the most important things to consider when writing the personal statement for a student. In this type of document, any mistakes can and will get back to the student. The student will need to be sure that he or she is prepared.

Reasons Why Marketers Need Project Management Tools

Reasons Why Marketers Need Project Management Tools Photo via Foter.com Most marketers rely on their automated solutions and regularly work with different groups: like engineers, developers, and even the accounting people. Whats more, in that work, theres a considerable amount of time and energy spent. One way to avoid this loss is using project management tools. A project management system is an essential tool in todays environment for all businesses. Without a project management system, most of an entrepreneur’s time is taken up doing documentation, disseminating information from clients to designers to developers and everyone in between. The benefits of a project management system is not only limited to easy communication and documentation, but it also helps you to keep track of every second of the project, helping you focus on other more important things. To help you know if a project management system is (or is not) what you need, here are a few reasons why task management software  is so essential for any business: 1) Keeping Schedules As a marketer, you need to keep projects on schedule.   But for whatever reason, things dont always work out as planned. With a project management tool, it is easy to track the time you have on hand for a particular project. You can set the start and the end dates of your project, to help you keep track of time. Every employee gets notified of the set deadlines, and after completion of the project, you can also update your client with the work status. 2) Tracking the Projects Manually tracking all your projects is never as efficiently done as on with software. From planning the project to tracking the deadlines, assessing work progress and profitability per project and tracking other details in a precise manner, a project planner helps you do it all like a pro. Every piece of information that you want on all your projects is available with just a click and you can easily compare which project is better for your business. 3) Communication It is very common for communication gaps to happen while a team is working a project.   And this can spoil the project.   The project management software bridges this gap and makes it easier for you to contact clients and employees, keeping them current on the project status along with other critical details. It also makes it easy for clients and employees to communicate to each other, completing the communication cycle. Miscommunication is reduced or eliminated and unnecessary delays are avoided by using a project management tool.   This keeps work flowing, employees updated and clients satisfied. 4) Easy Collaboration While working on a project, there are different departments working on a single project. It gets hard to share all documents, files, project details and updates with every department. Project management tools come handy here. You can assign every employee, from any department, tasks on a common platform, and can also share the details, updates and documents over the software. This helps all the departments collaborate without delays due to miscommunication. 5) Swift Documentation Unlike conventional methods, you do not have to go through different spreadsheets, files, or accounts to access project details. With project management tools, the projects entire data set is accessible from one account and is available to the full team. This makes it easy for you to keep a record of all the documentation done on the project, and saves time, helping you work more efficiently. While this gives you a brief understanding of how handy project management systems can be in terms of handling a project, you need to evolve your processes as technology evolves. As technology has advanced, traditional pen and paper documentation is no longer the best thing to do. It hinders your chance to grow your market and hinders the efficiency of your entire workforce. Whereas, project management systems maximize the performance of the project team and also improves the overall project workflow. Take a step towards improved productivity, implement a project management system today. Google gets silly - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog

Google gets silly - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog Its nice to know, that theres still time to goof around at Google: Not long ago, I walked by the desk of software engineer JJ Furman, and saw that he had made an interesting addition to his desk: a large blob of Silly Putty, about the size of a grapefruit. Intrigued, I asked how hed gotten so much of the stuff. The answer? A bulk order directly from the manufacturer! Of course. I knew then that I wanted some, and it dawned on me that I probably wasnt the only one. So I set out to place a really, really big bulk order. An email went out to cohorts. Their orders came in. Three weeks later, I had an eighth of a ton of Silly Putty delivered to my desk. I honestly believe that this is a sign of a healthy company, when employees have the creativity, freedom and time to do stuff like that. Of course, this begs the question: What happens if you drop a 25 kg. ball of silly putty from a height of 20 meters. MAN, I love the internet :o) Thanks for visiting my blog.
